How To Calculate Your Gold Value
Using our online gold price calculator is easy. You will just need two pieces of information to use this calculator.
- Your gold weight or item quantity.
- The purity of your gold (carat) or the type of bullion if selling coins/bars.
Split your gold by carats / purity and weigh each carat separately. So if you have two 9 carat rings and three 18 carat rings, weigh all the 9 carat rings together and select ‘9ct Gold’ from the ‘Item’ drop-down menu, then enter the total weight into the calculator. You can then click the ‘+ Add More’ button to add a new line and enter the same information for 18ct. Enter your details and we will email a price to you instantly.
I don’t know the purity or weight of my gold?
Don’t worry, you can post your gold to us or bring it in-store and we can do the hard work for you.

The journey of your gold after selling online to Cheshire Gold Xchange
When selling your scrap gold or unwanted gold to Cheshire Gold Xchange online, you are giving your unwanted jewellery a new lease of life! We recycle all scrap gold sent to us, via a melting and refining process.
Once payment has been made to you, the recycling process begins, the gold is cleaned of any obvious contaminants or non-gold metals. The gold is then sent for melting. A high-powered furnace is used to melt the gold scrap at 1064 °C where the gold turns into a liquid form. Small quantities of borax are also added into the crucible to facilitate the melting process. Borax is added during the gold melting process as a flux. The borax helps lower the melting point of the mixture of gold and other substances, making it easier to separate pure gold from impurities.
Once the gold has been melted it’s then poured into bar form, these bars are then assayed to establish the bar’s purity, as a mix of carats are melted together. The gold bar is then sold back into the jewellery industry to be further refined to make new and beautiful gold jewellery!.
