Welcome to Cheshire Gold Xchange! We kindly ask you to carefully review the following terms and conditions as they govern the legal relationship between you and CheshireGoldXchange.co.uk, an online and high-street gold buyer in the UK.
1. Definitions
Cheshire Gold Xchange and CheshireGoldXchange.co.uk are trading names of Cheshire Bullion Limited is registered in England with company registration number 16098886. Cheshire Bullion Limited is a VAT registered entity with registration number GB481244986. Our registered office is at:

Throughout these terms and conditions, the terms “You,” “Your,” “User,” or “Customer” refer to any individual using the CheshireGoldXchange.co.uk website.
2. Requirements for Use
To engage in a transaction with Cheshire Gold Xchange, you must meet the following requirements:
– You must be at least eighteen (18) years old.
– You must be the rightful owner of the property you intend to sell, and if requested, provide proof of ownership through a purchase receipt.
– You must act on your own behalf.
– You must be live in the United Kingdom.
3. Precious Metal Price Calculators
Our Calculator features provided on our website serve as a convenience for users and display an approximate price of the metal, based on accurate information (current market metal value on the day of use, not necessarily the price on the day we receive your goods). Please note that the price generated by the Precious Metal Calculator does not constitute a binding offer, which the user accepts by sending the goods. Our final offer will be dictated by the current market prices at the point of receipt of goods.
4. Selling via the post
4.1. Eligibility
4.1.1 You must be at least 18 years old.
4.1.2 You confirm you are the legal owner of all items and that they are free of liens, charges, or third-party claims. A declaration form contained in your pack will require signing and returning with your items.
4.1.3 You must not send stolen, counterfeit, or otherwise unlawful items. Where we reasonably suspect this, we may retain items and report to law enforcement without payment.
4.2. UK-only service
4.2.1 We currently only accept precious metals posted from UK addresses. Items posted from outside the UK will be refused or returned at your cost.
4.2.2 We do not dispatch gold packs to the Channel Islands (Jersey/Guernsey). Channel Islands customers must arrange their own inbound and return shipping, when required.
4.3. Quotes and pricing
4.3.1 Prices shown online or via the Scrap Calculator are indicative only and subject to testing and market movements.
4.3.2 Once we receive your items, we will test, weigh, and determine purity, then email or call you with an offer.
4.3.3 Scrap items are priced using the relevant metal price on the day we issue the offer. Offers may change if the market moves before you accept.
4.3.4 Jewellery may be priced on individual merits and is not limited to scrap value.
4.4. Testing and stones
4.4.1 Items will undergo non-destructive testing, if destructive testing (including cutting, filing, acid) is required we will contact you for prior approval. By posting items to us, you consent to this.
4.4.2 We do not pay for non-precious stones. Weight for such stones will be deducted based on a weight estimate. Stones will not be removed as part of the offer creation process. If you require any stones to be removed and returned to you, you must request this in response to our offer email.
4.4.3 If you do not notify us that stones must be returned at the point of offer generation we will not be able to return these to you.
4.5. Accepting or declining our offer
4.5.1 We will send the offer by email (unless otherwise requested). Use a secure email address; acceptance made via the email is final and non-reversable.
4.5.2 When you accept, title to the goods passes to us upon payment, and the sale is final.
4.5.3 We are under no obligation to buy your items. If we decline to purchase, we will return them as set out in Clause 7.
4.6. Responsibility and transit
4.6.1 Until we take delivery, items remain your responsibility. We strongly recommend Royal Mail Special Delivery with appropriate insurance if you choose to send goods to us yourself, and that you retain proof of postage and tracking.
4.6.2 Items received on a Saturday are processed the next working day (UK bank holidays excluded).
4.6.3 Items posted to us without sender information or a return address will be held for 7 days. We will do our best to identify the sender. However, if unclaimed, we may donate them to our charity partner (Mind). (see Clause 9).
4.7. Returns and insurance
4.7.1 If you do not accept our offer, we will return your items free of charge within 5 working days of notification. By default, returns are sent by Royal Mail Special Delivery insured to our estimated scrap value at dispatch.
4.7.2 If you require higher insurance, tell us before dispatch; any additional cost is payable by you.
4.7.3 For Channel Islands customers, if you decline our offer, you must arrange and pay for the return.
4.8. Pre-paid seller packs
4.8.1 If you request a pre-paid seller pack, a £9 fee is deducted from the final amount paid to you when a sale completes.
4.8.2 If you choose not to sell to us, or if the assessed value of your goods is less than £9, a £9 return fee applies.
4.8.3 You are responsible for obtaining and keeping proof of postage and tracking when using the pack.
4.9. Items of no value and charity
4.9.1 Items we assess as having no value to us can be returned to you on request, subject to a £6.95 return fee (deductible from any other items we purchase).
4.9.2 If you do not request return of no-value items, we may donate them to our charity partner (Mind).
4.10. Receipt of Your Goods
4.10.1 Upon receiving your scrap precious metals package, Cheshire Gold Xchange will confirm receipt through a signature on the Royal Mail tracking System.
4.10.2 Please be aware that Cheshire Gold Xchange is not liable for any loss or damage to goods in transit to us where the customer has not followed instructions outlined within the Gold pack. It is your responsibility to ensure that all instructions are followed within the Gold Pack received and address labels are clearly visible.
4.11. Payment Process
We want to ensure a smooth payment experience for our customers. Here’s how we handle payments:
4.11.1 Once you have accepted our offer, we will proceed with the payment process. We will discuss and arrange the payment details with you to ensure a convenient method for both parties.
4.11.2 We offer two payment methods, the method you choose should be detailed on the declaration form provided in your pack.
4.11.3 BACS Transfer: We can transfer the payment directly to your chosen bank account as defined on your declaration form. This method is free of charge and ensures a quick, secure, and usually instant transfer of funds.
4.11.4 Cash: If you prefer to receive payment in cash, we can send it to you securely through Royal Mail Special Delivery up to a maximum of £2,500. Please note that for this service, there will be a postage fee and handling cost of £15. The cash will be sent in British banknotes and £1 or £2 coins, with the amount rounded down to the nearest whole pound. The cash will be enclosed in a secure and envelope, requiring a signature upon delivery. This service is usually delivered by the following working day and will only be sent to the address where the original pack was sent.
4.11.5 For security purposes, we may request proof that the named person appears on the Electoral Register for the address where the cash will be delivered. This is to ensure that the payment reaches the intended recipient safely.
4.11.6 Once you have received and signed for the cash delivery, we hold no further liability or recourse. Therefore, we strongly recommend using the cash via post service only if all occupants of your address are known and trusted by you.
5. Investment advice
5.1 We are not authorized by the Financial Conduct Authority and cannot give investment advice.
5.2 Historical metal prices are not a reliable indication of current or future metal prices.
5.3 We cannot give advice regarding your tax implications.
5.4 Any articles, blog posts, or other content on our website are provided for general information only and do not constitute investment advice. You must seek independent professional advice before making any investment decisions.
6. Anti-Fraud and money laundering prevention
6.1 If you wish to purchase from us in-store or online, you must register an account.
6.2 We do not accept guest checkouts.
6.3 We are only able to post goods to the billing address.
6.4 To make purchases with us over the value of £3000 in any 1-year period we will require an upload of photographic identification (Passport or UK Driving license) this is for anti-money laundering and anti-fraud purposes.
6.5 To make purchases with us over the value of £10,000 we will require an upload of proof of address (utility bill, bank statement or driving license if not used as photo ID).
6.6 We may use the information provided to perform anti-fraud checks.
6.7 All information provided will be stored in accordance with the Data Protection Act.
6.8 If you wish to make a purchase over £30,000 this must be done in store.
6.9 Proof of identity or proof of address may be required at any time.
