- Is it worth selling gold now?
Gold prices move constantly. If your goal is to sell unwanted jewellery, scrap, or bullion, there usually isn't a need to try time the market. Our quotes reflect the live spot price at the point of receiving your items. - How much is 9ct gold worth per gram?
9 carat is 375 fineness (37.5% gold). Today’s 9ct per-gram buy rate is £34.22. Rates update with market movements; final quotes are confirmed after testing and weighing. Use our calculator to find out how much your 9ct gold is worth.
- Do you buy other precious metals like silver, platinum, or palladium?
Yes. We buy silver, platinum and palladium in-store only. Bring your items to our Warrington shop for testing, or give us a call for an over the phone estimate. (These metals aren’t currently accepted via our postal service.)
- Can I sell gold online by post?
Yes, you can post your scrap gold, jewellery and bullion to us. Request a free insured Gold Pack by clicking the green button, pack your items and post via Royal Mail Special Delivery. - Do I need to bring photo ID when selling gold
For selling in person, some transactions require photo ID to comply with UK money laundering regulations, depending on value and circumstances. To avoid delays, please bring a driving licence or passport when visiting the store.
- Can I sell broken or damaged gold?
Yes. We buy broken or worn jewellery, scrap gold, as well as coins and bars. Offers are based on verified purity and weight; cosmetic condition usually doesn’t affect scrap value but may affect valuations for items intended for resale, such as coins and bars.
- What if I am not happy with the valuation amount?
There’s never any obligation to sell your items to us in-store or online and our team will never attempt to persuade you to do so. If you decline a postal offer, we’ll return your items free of charge. If you need time to decide, tell us and we’ll note the quote time; please remember prices move with the market.
- Can you value my gold over the phone?
We can give a rough valuation for your precious metals over the phone based on your description, but this is only an estimate. A confirmed valuation requires us to test and weigh the items in person or on arrival by post. This ensures the offer reflects the verified purity and weight of your gold or silver.
- Do I need to book an appointment to sell my gold?
Appointments are not required if you wish to sell your gold quickly and efficiently in-store, just drop in within our opening hours. If you prefer having a date in the diary, simply pick up the phone and give us a call to schedule an appointment with a member of our team at your convenience. We’re here to make selling your gold as simple as it should be.
- How will I receive my money?
In-store: once you accept our written quote, payment is made by bank transfer or, if preferred, cash (subject to limits). Online: for postal sales, payment is normally made by bank transfer within one working day of accepting our offer.
- How long does a gold valuation take?
The time needed for a gold valuation depends on the number of items and whether they are hallmarked. A single hallmarked gold ring can usually be valued within a minute. Items without a hallmark may require further testing, which typically takes 2–3 minutes each. If you bring several items, please allow extra time for testing and weighing.
- How much is my gold worth?
The value of your gold depends on its purity (carat/fineness 18 carat, 24 carat, etc.), weight and the live market price at the time of testing. We confirm these factors in-store or on receipt by post, then provide an itemised per-gram quote linked to the LBMA Gold Price benchmark. You can use our gold price calculator for a guide estimate. - Is there a minimum gold amount you will buy?
There is no minimum amount for in-store sales — we can assess and quote for any quantity. For any large value sales over £50,000 we advise you to contact us prior to visiting. For postal sales we recommend a minimum of £100 value, each Gold Pack sent by Royal Mail Special Delivery is insured up to £2,500 (limits and exclusions apply). If your items are worth more than this, you can split your gold over multiple packs, please contact us to discuss options.
